Use the board identifier, resolution and touch suffix from your product guide. This workflow applies to Sunton board environments present in the linked demo project; NM-CYD-C5 uses its separate manufacturer instructions.
Get the complete project
Install Git and PlatformIO, then retrieve the demo including its board-definition submodule:
git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/rzeldent/esp32-smartdisplay-demo.git
cd esp32-smartdisplay-demo
git submodule update --init --recursive
Open this folder as an existing PlatformIO project. Keep its platformio.ini, include files and source tree together.
Select a matching environment
Open platformio.ini and find the environment matching your board. Examples below assume an identified ESP32-8048S050C; replace the environment with your exact supported model:
pio run -e esp32-8048S050C
pio run -e esp32-8048S050C -t upload
pio device monitor -b 115200
Keep the dependency set reproducible
Record the project commit, platform version, LVGL major version and board definition after a successful build. Keep the project lv_conf.h and driver library paired. Do not combine LVGL 8 and LVGL 9 generated UI code in one unmodified demo.
Validate before importing a custom UI
Use the running demo as a baseline. Check screen bounds, orientation and touch positions. Add one custom screen and compare again. Keep logs and a copy of the known-good configuration so an unsuccessful change can be reverted.
When a profile does not match
Do not compensate for unknown hardware by trying random pin maps. Check the rear marking, touch-controller revision and display interface. Send support board photos, selected environment and complete build/serial output.
Documentation sources and downloads
References checked October 14, 2026. Board definitions document specific reference hardware; verify the revision on your board. These instructions have not been bench-tested on your individual unit.
Share the product link, hardware revision, software version and any error messages.
