Features & Compatibility

The GY-NO-6 module is based on the UBLOX NEO-6M GPS module, supports UART communication protocol, has EEPROM storage function, and can be easily connected to a microcontroller. It can be directly connected to a computer through USB to TTL serial port for various parameter settings and can be saved in EEPROM. It comes with a rechargeable backup battery that can maintain ephemeris data in case of power failure.

Product Features:

Working voltage: 3.3V-5.0V

Default baud rate: 9600

Compatible with various flight control modules

GPS antenna interface: IPX interface, can connect various active antennas

TTL interface: can be controlled by USB-TTL or an external microcontroller to receive GPS

Note: After the main power is disconnected, the backup battery can maintain the storage of GPS ephemeris data for about half an hour to support warm start or hot start, thereby achieving fast positioning.

Pin Description

VCC: Connect to the positive pole of the power supply (3.3V-5.0V)

GND: Connect to the negative pole of the power supply

TXD: Module serial port sending pin (TTL level), can be connected to RXD of microcontroller

RXD: Module serial port receiving pin (TTL level), can be connected to TXD of microcontroller

PPS: Clock pulse output pin (optional)

The PPS pin is also connected to the module’s built-in status indicator light: PPS. This pin is connected to the TIMEPULSE port of the UBLOX NEO-6M module, and the output characteristics of this port can be programmed.

PPS indicator light (i.e. PPS pin), under default conditions (not programmed)

There are two states:

a. Constant illumination indicates that the module has started working, but positioning has not yet been achieved.

b. Flashing (100ms off, 900ms on) indicates successful module positioning.

By using PPS lights, it is easy to determine the current status of the module.

Attention:

GPS module first positioning (cold start) Under normal circumstances, it takes several minutes to find enough satellites for positioning. If the weather conditions are not good, it may take longer positioning time or it may not be possible to locate.
