Read both I2C sensing groups, report water-level sections and handle missing data while respecting the white immersion boundary.
Technical setup notes
- Capacitive water-level sensing over a 10 cm active length with a Grove I2C connection.
- Module input: 3.3 V / 5 V. The manufacturer protocol reads eight lower sections at 0x77 and twelve upper sections at 0x78.
- Keep the protective coating intact and liquid below the white boundary line; the connector/controller end must remain dry.
Features
High measurement accuracy: Since the sensor is based on capacitive sensing, The measurement accuracy is up to ±5 mm.
Outstanding corrosion resistance: Inevitably, some liquids may be corrosive during use, and with the help of corrosion-resistant materials, the sensor can be used for a long time.
Grove unified socket: The sensor ensures "Plug and Play" and could be versatile for various applications.
Description
The Grove Water Level Sensor is a very accurate sensor that can be helpful in water level sensing applications. Its coated capacitive sensing area detects water levels up to 10 cm; keep liquid below the white dividing line and do not submerge the connector/controller end.
We used capacitive pads on the PCB of the module and did conformal coating over the PCB to make the sensor protect against moisture, dust, chemicals and high temperatures. We believe that this technique will allow you to make accurate water level measurements (±5mm accuracy) easily
Note
The blue oil layer on the surface of the module’s capacitance sensing area should be kept intact. When the oil layer is damaged and the test object is a conductive liquid, the test data may be abnormal.
Attention
When testing, the highest liquid level inserted should not exceed the white dividing line, otherwise it will cause a short circuit.
